Can I add arbitrary attributes to Projects and Repositories

We want to log some internal data attributes e.g. project codes or application classifications against projects and repositories.  Is there a way we can do this in a way that these would be accessible to users through the web UI but also via REST?

We usually use Active Objects to store data in plugins. It is also possible to store simple key-value data in the plugin settings service > example.

Your best bet is to write a small add-on that provides the REST endpoints, data storage and web-fragments.
