Avoiding importing backups from a previous version?

Charles Patton Jr March 5, 2018

I'm attempting a bamboo server migration and in the guide it says to avoid importing backups from previous versions.

I'm attempting to migrate from a machine that was previously running 6.0.3 to a new machine that is running 6.3.0. Should I expect problems? Is it better to simply upgrade the pre-existing server before migration or something?

Thanks.

Hi @Charles Patton Jr,

Thanks for reaching out to the Atlassian Community!

As there have been significant schema changes in Bamboo versions, importing a 6.0.3 backup into 6.3.0 may result in some errors.

You can either upgrade the existing server before migration, or download version 6.0.3 from the Bamboo Download Archives to the new server, import the backup, and then upgrade the new server to 6.3.0.

I hope this helps! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

Elias | Bamboo Support
