A topic we've been focused on lately is our journey to/with the Atlassian cloud and to help with the conversation we hosted an event (yep you guessed it!) called ‘Your Journey to the Atlassian Cloud’ back in July and sponsored by Atlassian and AppFox 🙌
We were pleased to host some amazing Community names at the event, one being Ginkgo Bioworks very own @Bruce Kozuma 👏 hear his migration story first hand on demand now or grab a taster of his journey below...
From Cloud to Server to Cloud and sort of back to Server: A tale of just in time migrations to meet requirements
Some of you may find similarities with Bruce as he discusses the complicated journey Ginkgo Bioworks has had with Jira and Confluence and their multiple migrations - from Cloud to Server to Cloud and sort of back to Server and addressed why these multiple movements were necessary to meet their requirements.
Back in 2020, when Ginkgo Bioworks only had one instance in the Atlassian Cloud, they made the decision to migrate to Confluence Server and Jira Software Server to enable scale. However, towards the end of the year, and in light of the pandemic, Ginkgo Bioworks migrated back to the Cloud as this could now scale.
Yet a requirement for all their data to be HIPPA compliant in 2021 sent them packing back to server... What a journey they've had so far!
