Xray: How to make a test status non-executable

In Jira Xray, we have a workflow for tests (issue type = test) which includes two statuses:

Draft (which I believe came with Xray's defaults)
Ready for Review (which we added ourselves)

Both statuses are in the 'To do' category.

These statuses work well for our process and we wish to keep the workflow this way.

However, while a Draft status test in a test execution cannot be executed, a Ready for Review status test CAN be executed.

How we we make the Ready for Review status such that tests with this status CANNOT be executed, the same as the Draft status?

We managed to resolve this ourselves.

The Xray documentation says:

Xray provides some workflow control mechanisms that are able to integrate with Jira workflows. All these settings can be found in Global Preferences.

It's possible to:

  • Disallow executions of Tests with workflow statuses

Global Preferences is found by going to the global settings for Jira (for us, a cog at the top right of the screen) -> Manage apps.

In the left hand menu, under Xray, we went into Miscellaneous. In the Workflow Status section, we were able to add the Ready for Review status into the section called Disallow executions of Tests with workflow statuses.
