Estimates on greenhopper

Hi

On greehopper scrum planning board, we have several sub-tasks to a story. Now each of the sub-tasks has an estimate in days to it. however, the parent story which is showing up under the spring does not recognise the efforts we have entered to its sub-tasks.

e.g. if the story itself is alloted 10 days and each of its 5 sub-tasks 2 days each then i would imagine the parent story to show an original estimate of 10 + 5X2 = 20 days but it still shows 10 days. Is it a bug or is it something that is configurable?

Actually this is a feature request as you can see here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-9775

This is not configurable yet, you have to set the estimates in the subtasks and tasks, there is no automatically procedure yet.

Hi Rahul,

As Ricardo said you can't do this within JIRA yet, however if you want the information in a report, check out our plugin Intelligent Reports. You can design the template in Microsoft Word and fill in the data with point and click rules - no programming involved. It can easily total the subtask estimates for you when reporting on your agile stories.

Rahul, there's Structure plugin that can sum up estimates and any numeric fields like Story Points. It can work along with GreenHopper by providing you an alternative view with the hierarchy of issues (epics - stories - sub-tasks, for example). But that's a commercial add-on.

Let me know if you need further details how to set up a structure with the aggregation.
