came through to salesforce in Chatter as

Is that expected behavior?

I'm Felipe from the Appfire Support team. Regarding your question:

I'm afraid this is the expected behavior since Jira and Salesforce use different style render. In Jira is used Wiki Markup and in Salesforce is used HTML tags.

I've created a feature request in the developer's backlog. Through this, the Product team properly prioritizes and reviews the feature request based on the community demand, feasibility, and effort. Rest assured, no feature improvements/ideas are taken for granted.
