Cloning test cases with Data Sets

Helen Snowball November 19, 2024

Hi, I have a MASTER set of test cases in my XRay Test Repository, some of which have Data Sets associated.

I want to clone in bulk these tests but the Datasets (& parameters) aren't cloning with the test cases.

Basically, as well as a template test case, I have a template data set (with parameters as column headings), then the tester clones the MASTER test cases and only has to upload the data specific to their project to create their test cases

But we're having to upload the dataset including the parameters/headings

Is there a way to have the associated data set also be cloned, when cloning the test case please? Many thanks in advance

Hi @Helen Snowball

Cloning in Jira doesn't take into account Datasets.

Xray documentation:

"Cloning a Test issue creates a new Test with all the information of the cloned Test, except its executions. Therefore, the cloned issue will not be associated with any Test Execution issue."

A Dataset is not part of a test case, they are a collection (table) defined in the Xray settings in the project.

You could reach out to Xray support, to have them look into this or see if this is an option.
