Happy Friday, Community!

Once upon a time, I stumbled into the wonderland called Atlassian Marketplace with its great variety of apps. I remember that during the summer, I also highlighted and gave kudos to it during the Starting Line-Up challenge of Jira July 2023.

Speaking of the Atlassian Community, regardless of whether we are customers, marketplace partners, solution partners, Atlassian team, etc., there are a few industry/community-specific questions/themes that can serve as ice-breaking questions and starters to kick off conversations during events, live demos or business communication.

One of them for me is associated with Atlassian Marketplace and the path for the discovery of marketplace apps, which can elevate the overall experience while unraveling key motives and factors that can impact which direction to take in this discovery journey.

Based on my experience with those conversations, these are takeaways of mine and ways to break out the most memorable ones on the example of our app in the Cloud. Interestingly, while having dozens of conversations, I identified the ‘priority path’ that comes first and what unravels next in the context of evaluation/purchase decisions inside the pricing/value for money point.

1. Functionality

It is essential to see if and how the app aligns with the requirements of use cases and addresses specific needs.

2. UI and UX

Straightforward and intuitive, understandable to use - are keys here to add to the winning combination, whether it is the deal maker or deal breaker.

3. Support system

The most memorable answer or discussion point I remember today about our app was the following sentence from a customer: ‘The app does exactly what it says in the description/documentation.’ This was a small discovery moment for me as well because it turned out this was a separate, valid, and essential point that heavily influenced customers’ decisions and gave extra points to the overall liking of the app. What is equally important here is that good customer service is as important as comprehensive and accessible documentation, which makes a difference in the experience. By the way, one of the ways to facilitate your evaluation journey is to address your questions and thoughts with support or by booking live demos to see the app in action tailored to your use cases and needs.

4. Community Feedback

Atlassian Marketplace has review tabs from real users, as in Atlassian Community; you can also learn more about how other Atlassian enthusiasts benefit from their favorites. This discussion point unravels interestingly as so many dimensions and double-edged swords speak about reviews and word-of-mouth.

5. Security and Compliance

Data Safety is paramount. It is equally important across all hosting types. Have you encountered apps that excelled in this or any other mentioned aspect so spectacularly that it immediately made a deal for you?

Choosing your marketplace app to facilitate the Atlassian ecosystem journey is like choosing ingredients wisely to elevate your delicious meals, transforming workflows (or your cooking) into a work of art.

Looking forward to your insights and discussion points, what should be 6, 7, 8+ points here? Or what should be added to 1-5 points?

Have a lovely Friday!

Best,

Anastasia
