How to export epic, story / task and sub-task from Jira in a hierarchical order to a CSV file ?

Many a times, teams need to export their issues to a CSV file for further reporting and analytics. However they struggle with not getting the data in a hierarchy, i.e. Epic -> Story/Task -> Sub-Task structure in the output file. Or if the teams are using Issue Links to create a multi level hierarchy, they would need to see that structure  as well in the CSV file for analyzing it further.

With the help of the marketplace app, Agile Tools, you can easily export your hierarchy with a few clicks. Follow the steps below :

1. Install the app Agile Tools, from the marketplace.

2. Navigate to the menu Apps -> Epic Hierarchy and filter for your Epics and their child issues with multiple filter options available on the screen.

3. Select the Jira fields you want to see in the report from the “Fields” drop down.

4. Click on More - > Export.

5. Select the options available and click on “Yes” and Voila !!, you are done.

Similarly if you need to export your hierarchy which is based on Issue Links, just navigate to the menu Apps -> Links Hierarchy and follow the steps as above.

What’s more the app can help with Epic progress based on story points completed / time spent / status of child issues up to the lowest level. It can roll up the numeric fields at each parent level to track the progress. Also the app has a host of other features like Time in Status Reports, Worklogs Reports and Time sheets, which are very helpful in Project management and Planning.
