We’re excited to share Atlassian is improving the Marketplace experience for both Customers and Partners. This transformation is more than just aesthetic; it's about making the customer experience smoother, faster, and more intuitive so you can quickly and easily discover apps for every team. Prepare for an exciting new experience later this month. In the meantime, watch this video to see the before and after, and read on to learn about new features.
As the administrator of your organization, exploring and discovering the multitude of apps available for various teams can be both overwhelming and time-consuming. Whether you're supporting technical teams or those in Marketing and HR, the selection of apps is vast. However, with the new Marketplace experience, you can now more easily identify which apps are best suited for your teams. The Atlassian Marketplace offers a wide range of apps, not just for Jira power users or technical teams… Believe it or not, there are apps for every team!
As we publish this article, about 50% of Marketplace visitors will already see the updated homepage experience! The homepage has a cleaner look in line with Atlassian branding. With an updated navigation bar, Apps for products, Categories, and Resources are featured to help you discover new apps by product, use case or team type.
Historically, the Atlassian Marketplace offered a wide array of categories that could sometimes be overwhelming for users to sift through. Recent improvements have streamlined the categories to accurately reflect how users and administrators intuitively associate apps—whether by team type or function. Moreover, the apps featured within each category live on a new landing page with a clean layout, enhancing the overall browsing experience.
Apps are even easier to find with new a new filter allowing visitors to search by “Use cases” which includes apps for tasks like Analytics, Charts/Graphs, Issue tracking, and many more! When partners publish apps, they are given the opportunity to tag the apps with relevant use cases, eliminating the need for guesswork. The original filters are presented in a more organized and simplified layout. This allows you to efficiently broaden your search or refine it to specific requirements when looking for apps.
App badging featured on the homepage helps customers easily discover apps Atlassian is keen to feature (Spotlight), up and coming apps (Rising Star), as well as Bestsellers. Collections of applications like Changemakers, AI, and Atlassian Ventures create streamlined and organized pages that enable Atlassian to showcase exciting app groups. These designated collections have been updated, along with the pages they are hosted on.
While the implementation of this feature is not scheduled for immediate release, we are thrilled to share a sneak peek! Currently, when users search for apps on the Marketplace, results are generated based on keyword logic. However, in the upcoming update, this process will be enhanced through a hybrid model that combines both keywords and natural language processing (NLP). NLP, a machine learning technique, enables users to search using everyday language instead of rigid keywords. The addition of NLP is expected to provide users with more refined search results, reducing the need to sift through irrelevant information. The Atlassian Product team will run a phased launch of this feature with a plan to rollout NLP to 5% of customers in late October.
Stay tuned for further updates on the upcoming Marketplace! Your feedback on the new platform is highly valued and we look forward to hearing your thoughts once you've had a chance to explore it 👀
