4 New Ways to Better Run Your FAQ Hub in Confluence!

Managing an FAQ hub can feel like trying to keep track of every single question, answer, and page all at once. You can use existing Confluence features such as expands or databases. But the more questions you add, the more you need to rely on a dedicated third party app to do the heavy lifting for you.

And, here’s the good news: we’ve just launched some major updates to help make organizing, displaying, and updating FAQs simpler and smoother.

These new features give you more control and customization options, all while saving you valuable time. Whether you're already an FAQ for Confluence user or curious to learn how you can better manage your FAQ hub, this post is for you.

So, let’s dive into the four new ways to level up your FAQ hub in Confluence:

1. Turn Questions into Full Confluence Pages

Sometimes a question deserves more than a few lines. Maybe it needs a “how-to” walkthrough, detailed scenarios, and macros to truly answer it.

Turning individual FAQs into pages means you can go as in-depth as needed, adding in Confluence macros, tailored layouts, and more. Think of a troubleshooting article, dedicated tutorials, and other similar types of content.

How to use it: When creating your FAQ, click “Expand to Confluence page”. Voilà! A new Confluence page is created instantly with the question title, a direct link back to the FAQ section, and the appropriate labels. It’s a seamless way to expand on your FAQ hub, and provide more details and context.

2. Convert Existing Confluence Pages into FAQ Questions

Already have pages in Confluence that belong in your FAQ hub? Now, you can easily bring those pages in just a couple of simple steps. This feature is perfect for giving users quick access to essential content that’s already in-depth and polished, like troubleshooting guides or onboarding resources.

By integrating existing pages, you can organize everything in one place, making navigation simpler for users and keeping your FAQ hub complete and centralized.

How to use it: Just add the appropriate FAQ and category labels to the page, and it will automatically appear in your FAQ hub, complete with an icon that lets users know it’s an FAQ entry.

3. Embed FAQs in Your Confluence Pages with Advanced Filtering

Embedding questions and answers within your Confluence pages is simply a must have. Think of your space homepage and customer support portals where you want your users to quickly grasp important information.

The latest release of FAQ for Confluence cloud comes with a dedicated macro allowing you to list your FAQs, of course, filtered by space, FAQ page, and category.

4. Quickly Import Existing FAQs

No one wants to spend hours copying and pasting questions and answers. Not only is it time-consuming, but it’s also error-prone. Imagine copying hundreds of questions, only to realize you missed a couple, forgot answers, or some metadata. That’s not ideal.

With our latest release, you can eliminate the extra work by making the import process seamless. If you’re bringing over a large volume of questions and answers from other platforms or Data Center, this feature will save you valuable time.

How to use it: From within your FAQ view, select Import CSV or JSON and select the file. Then choose whether to keep the existing questions unchanged and mark the newly added as duplicates or simply update answers of existing questions.
