How to create a "Read LDAP users " Plugin for my bitbucket

pravihs December 16, 2016

Hi,

My requirement is to write a Bitbucket plugin for our Bitbucket Data center instance where my plugin has to communicate with a LDAP server (which will provide some end points to communicate) with valid credentials and populate my "stash-users" list with the retrieved LDAP user details.

Should I have to create this plugin from scratch? Or will i get some already existing plugins which I can use it for my modification?

I am trying Bitbucket development for the first time and not getting any idea on how to start my activity. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Note: I am not using the default LDAP configuration from 'user directory' user option on purpose. Reason is my Bitbucket Data Center Server is hosted in Cloud. My LDAP server is in our internal LDAP. I want to communicate betweeen these severs using http/https protocol and retrieve the details.

Best Regards,

Praveen

Bitbucket's LDAP integration is one of its best parts.  Atlassian team has done a great job.  Personally, I wouldn't try to rewrite it. What's the reason for avoiding direct LDAP (or LDAPS on port 636) sockets?
