Enable/disable custom fields based on workflow statuses

Is it possible to to enable/disable custom fields based on workflow statuses ? 

Currently we are using  Behaviours plugin to enable or disable custom fields based on another custom fields values.  

Now we want to implement this using workflow Statuses instead of Custom Field Value.

Please help me.

I don't believe that is possible. A workaround would be to create a custom field and populate it when transitioning to the status in question in a post function and then you can use the behaviours plugin to check against that field.
