This is a known issue in the knowledge base. The resolution is to disable proxy server settings in IE but I don't have any configured and I still get the issue. Im using IE10 and Confluence 5.2.2.

Thanks. I've tried under Firefox and it still happens. I'm advised by our Tech guys that we can't launch excel from the server so we're unable to test the second suggestion. Am I best raising a support ticket for this now?

Hello Andrea, you mentioned this knowledgebase article, since you do not have a proxy in place you could eliminate the browser factor by testing with different web browsers, also perform the edit operation from the machine where Confluence is serving to rule out any other network factors.

Please post your findings to this thread to enable the community to chip in.
