Can I change a custom field's metada with REST?

Hello,

I'd like to set the Required property (for example) of a custom field to True using the JIRA REST API? Is there a way to do this?

I can retrieve the custom field's metadata with rest/api/2/issue/createmeta but don't see an API for updating it.

After importing Trac to JIRA though the built in importer there are a bunch of cleanups I'd like to automate.

No. The REST API does not expose the administrative functions you need to be able to set field settings.
