Updates to the search functionality

We’re excited to share that we’ve made some updates to our search functionality! You’ll find that the information you’re looking for is now more accessible and easier to find.

The update includes improvements to the following:

• Search bar drop down results.

• Search page.

• “Ask a question” form.

Search bar drop down

When you begin typing in the search bar, a text snippet preview of the post will appear in the search dropdown.

Search results page

When you're on the search results page, you'll notice some text snippets that go along with the search results.

Ask a question form

When you ask a question, you will also see a text snippet in the drop-down.

We hope that this will make it easier for you to see if the answer to your question is already out there.

I'm very happy for these updates, especially on the Ask a Question page, which will hopefully help people find answers without having to post a question.

@SilkeS I do want to mention, however, that I noticed yesterday and today that my Search bar dropdown is displaying as transparent, making it very difficult to see the results:

Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding the transparent drop-down issue! We truly appreciate your input. We are currently investigating, and I will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available.

@Barbara Szczesniak our engineering team just pushed out a fix for the drop down. This should be resolved. Thank you again for your feedback.

I second @Barbara Szczesniak's input here - really hope that this improvement in the Ask a Question modal will help deflect some of the questions that are already answered in the community.  

Important to note that in the search bar there is an option to turn on/off suggestions - this will only work when the option is on.
