What is the link between Sprint length(weeks) under Team Settings and the actual Scrum Board?

In Advanced Planning under Teams -> Team settings I can set the Planning style to Scrum and Sprint length. These values do not effect the Sprint length of the project that is the Issue source. What is the purpose of setting Sprint length under the team setting?

The sprint length in the Team setting in planing should be confirm your sprint length in the Scrum projects sprint length.

Otherwise the addition of adding values to the team field in the issues in the scrum project will not lead to a good overview on the capacity.

The sprint length setting on the team field is related to capacity calculation in a sprint based on the team members and the total average of story points completed each sprint.

So to get valuable information the sprint length on the sprints needs to be equal to the sprint length value in the team within Plans to have an accurate sprint capacity overview
