Hi Community,

We have a plan configured with multiple teams and the Esitmation is carried out via Story Points. I see that users are entering the Story Points in Story Issue type and they are visible in Plans.

Roll ups to Epic Issues are also visible.

Now the question is about how do we make them updated in Jira

Below is the screenshot reference

Let us know if it is feasible in Advanced Roadmaps

Thanks,
Pramodh

Hey @Pramodh M

Unfortunately, the roll up function is only a visual planning tool in Advanced Roadmaps. Rolled up numbers can't be saved back to Jira.

This is the case for a few reasons: one is that Jira Software doesn't yet support dynamic values in fields, meaning that a rolled-up date wouldn't automatically update on your issues.

The second reason is a little more bespoke to this situation: in agile planning, issues at the epic level aren't estimated, only the stories that comprise it. This prevents the epic becoming misaligned with the estimate amount of its child issues.

Cheers

Eddie

Hi @Pramodh M

Advanced Roadmaps allows you to test out your changes before committing them to the underlying Jira issues.
Once you are happy with the changes you have made (e.g. estimating all of the issues under an Epic) you can "Review Changes" by clicking the button in the top right hand corner of the screen, and then publish the changes to Jira.

Does this answer your question?

Cheers

Mike
