×I use automation and jira markup language a lot in oder to set template texts. The new(?) feature for inserting a checklist item would fit perfect in this concept! At the moment we use bullet points for acceptance criteria. That is very easy to write in markup with
* criteria1
* criteria2
* ...
But now I wonder how I could get such a checkbox instead of the bullet point by using markup?
I've tried a few possible syntax I know from other Jira Apps. Like
[ ] ...
but nothing works and it doesn't seem to be supported.
We don't to use extra apps!
EDIT: found out, that the new feature is called "action item". And it should be triggered by [ ] ...
Hi @Robin Weis
Adding / updating action items to the Description field using automation rules is not supported yet. Here is a suggestion to add the feature and you may watch / vote for it to see progress: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AUTO-1668
I recall there is a comment with a REST API workaround in the original article announcing action items, but that is using undocumented / unsupported information and so I recommend not using it.
Kind regards,
Bill
Hi @Robin Weis ,
At the moment, it's not possible to add checklist items using Jira Automations.
There are some Marketplace Apps available, which can add checklists to the issue description automatically e.g. Templating.app
Here's how it works.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Sarah (Product Manager of Templating.app)

We want to get rid of all that extra apps. We already use them. But what we want is so very simple that we strongly believe that it should be done with the basic things.
