Workspaces are the foundation for collaboration in Trello

Trello Workspaces are containers for Trello boards, grouping related boards together for easy navigation and enhanced productivity for your team. They allow members to collaborate by accessing and managing shared boards, with views available as a calendar or table.
Workspaces can be created for free or upgraded to a paid plan. In a free Workspace, all members are Workspace admins, meaning they can invite or remove additional members, change the Workspace profile, and upgrade the Workspace to a paid plan. They can't, however, access private boards that they’re not a member of. In paid Workspaces, any Workspace admin has board admin privileges on any board within that Workspace, regardless of whether or not they’ve been added to that board in any role or the board’s visibility settings.

All boards must be in a Workspace.

Group similar boards in one place, so team members have centralized access to the information they need.
👉 For example: A wedding planner might set up a Workspace for each wedding and include individual boards for event timelines, vendor coordination, budgets, event design, and day-of logistics, simplifying organization and allowing clients easy access to important details.
👇A Workspace is composed of many boards.

Plan your Workspaces ahead

Before creating a Workspace, it's important to determine its setup and how you will use it based on your needs. For most cases, Atlassian recommends creating a Workspace for a group or team rather than a single project, as projects are better managed as boards.
A Trello Collection is a feature in Trello Premium that allows you to group multiple boards together. Collections are essentially labels that you can apply to boards to organize and filter them within a Workspace. This is particularly useful if you have a large number of boards and want to focus on a smaller group related to a specific project or team.

Create a Workspace for your team and organize boards by projects, meetings, and events.
👉 For example: A team may have boards for sprint planning, user feedback, and product roadmaps.

You may want to start with one Workspace and expand as your team grows. Switching between multiple Workspaces can complicate navigation.
