Glad you figured out a way to make it work. Another option would be to utilize automation. The trigger would be issue created and you could scope it to all Discovery projects or the specific discovery project(s) you want. Using the transition action would allow you to transition the Idea to the status you need.

We have Lucid, so it's been a little difficult getting people on board with switching to utilizing Whiteboards in Confluence, but I'm working on it. Not only does it make collaboration easier, but it increases transparency and allows for some cost savings.

What do you mean when you say you "hid" the goals system field? How did you "hide" it? You can control the global fields available within a JPD project by navigating to Settings -> Products -> Jira Product Discovery -> Global fields.

The project Access section is the only place to specify user permissions within a JPD project. The permissions available when creating a role are what's available.
