  • @Paul T_ Coteyou might consider using Cloud Premium to have the Advanced Roadmaps Planning feature. Plus you can still use MSproject to layout your timeline first and then export the project as an Excel spreadsheet and then import it into Jira.
  • Interesting to see other's have some of the same issues. We are trying Agile in a more traditonal hardware engineering company and have a software team that was using Jira beofre the rest of us had to come into the fold. We typically have things go longer than one two week sprint. We let them migrate to the next sprint…
  • You might need to look at the board settings. In particular the filter might be your issue. I use filters to limit what Epics are available in the backlog since I am trying to run multiple projects in one sprint.
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-thanks for your insight. I'm on my own right now and even though our employee count is down it does seem to take up a lot of my time. I am going to implement your idea of having a Jira project to track the changes. Thanks for that.
  • @Natalia Lópezwe are currently using an additional user picker custom field named Internal support for this purpose and for sprint roadblocks. They are added as watchers to get updates and it distinguishes them as active participants vs. the bigger list of watchers who aren't working on the issue.
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-I can definitely get behind this idea especially if you can adapt it to the Cloud. Plus this style of scripting seems like a good way to break into using your tools especially for a LabVIEW programmer. 👍
  • @Iryna PazharytskayaI don't see where you mentioned which version of Jira you are using although I suspect it is server since I don't recognize your screenshots and I don't have any experience with JSU. I would assume JSU would work in the same fashion as the built-in Automation rules. Have you tried the same field change…
  • Hello @Tim Allen , I just can't resist the urge. Thanks for telling us what TOOLS you use! 🤣
  • OK, so maybe I'm going down the wrong path here. My original intent was to take an existing project to the sandbox, make some changes without screwing up an active project, and then be able to migrate it back into the working site. Since I had never done this before I didn't realize what I was up against once I finally got…
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-once again I've stumbled onto one of your answers that is close to what I need to do. Can you tell me if it is possible to export a project that has been modified in the site sandbox and then import it back into the main site?
  • @Todd Ritterand @Martina Levy I can attest to the value of Deep Clone which you can try for free. I am not a paid promotional celebrity or employee of codefortynine.
  • @Andrei Pisklenov _Actonic_is this webinar going to cover working in the new Confluence editor?
  • Well, at least I now know that a remote link means it is a link to another app tied to Jira. I was trying to use this strictly within Jira in a filter to get linked issues. So much for the Atlassian documentation being useful.🤨
  • @Roger Davidsoncan you be more specific in your request? I don't understand the "different material types" reference.

  • Nope. I use Firefox. I don't use MS browsers unless absolutely forced to by a website. I've heard about Edge having other problems as well.
  • @Rick Lehtinenyou mention wanting to get on the bus. Sign up for the free account for Jira and Confluence to try things out. Look for free training as well. https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/free
  • @Alan Parkinsonthis just came up today in our retro. except it was related to holidays. We're using a fixed two-week sprint structure. We were starting on a Mon. and finishing on the following Fri. I'm now having a Sprint review and closing the sprint on Fri. AM and immediately starting the new Sprint right afterward so…
  • Thanks Nic. I now get it. Since I'm using Cloud and the new issue view it's click and play, hence my total confusion on why I couldn't originally edit. I've already forgotten that the old-style issue view would have an Edit button if you were allowed to edit otherwise you would get the viewscreen if I remember correctly.…
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-you're assessment was correct. I had inadvertently mixed up which screens I was using. I'm now able to edit the fields as I expected. I now have a question regarding the new cloud workings where they are recommending a unified screen instead of having different screens for create/view/edit. What…
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-thanks again for the quick response. I think I may have figured it out. It looks like I may have been using the wrong screen (I have two that I'm trying to use) even though they have the same configuration of fields. I'm trying to get around the constraints of not being able to get any additional…
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- Visibility is not the issue in my case. I can see them but I can't edit them. I have them in the issue screen but I put them in the hide when empty section of the layout. I then have automation set a default value of TBD in the field when the issue is created. The fields are visible at this point…
  • @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-can you explain why I can't edit a multiline field that is hidden until the issue is created? They also show up in the context area as opposed to the description area of the issue because I have them as hidden fields until they get a TBD entry added during creation by automation.
  • Rats! OK, I was remembering it differently. I had done what you are suggesting in a different project where I was using components to segregate issues and have different layouts. So, can you have more than one Epic issue type, i.e. two different names for Epics? I think I thought of that at one point but decided it wasn't…
  • @Justin RapisardaI would like to offer a slightly different suggestion. I believe you could use components for this. I created a Pseudo-ERP manufacturing flow that used components which in turn allowed for different boards to view just the issues in that component. I think that might be a way for you to do what you want.…
  • @Mikael Sandbergthis is a classic project. I'm working to eliminate Next Gen from my site. I think you are missing the point of my question. I have 9 pages of custom fields on my current site. I am unable to see any of them in the sandbox environment to add to my test project. I wanted to know why this is the case. I am…
  • NVM. In trying to get screenshots and more documentation of my efforts it has now magically appeared.
  • @Kian Stack Mumo Systems Got it. I'll need to figure out a way to get the information in some way. In my first example, I thought I had included a smart value that didn't require a search or some other tie in and still wasn't getting the smart values to print. When I used {{NOW}} in my message it confirmed that the Teams…
  • @Kian Stack Mumo Systemsit is just going to be a scheduled email to occur every 14 days. The rule sends the message just fine. My issue is with the smart values not appearing in the message in Teams. I can't tell if it related to Teams or how I am trying to use the smart values.
  • @Natalia Beliasavacan you explain why you are creating another board for the project? I'm wondering if you are trying to duplicate issues to a new project board as in @Ste Wright bullet point 2. I have used an add-on called Deep Clone to replicate a set of tasks in a different board within the same project. Stepahn is…
  • @Donnie GroomsLOL! Welcome to the club kid. 😆 Thinking of retirement at 49 already. Good for you. I just started my Atlassian adventure at 60 and have been getting after it with the same sort of thinking. I'm our company site and org admin and scrum master. Just now getting started with getting certifications. This…
