Agreed. this is a good bit of information. There were a few things here that I did not know about.
-
For those of you starting to use this feature, there is a caveat. In the upper right, there is an icon that allows you to select a Confluence space to link to the project. If that space is already linked to another project, the create button in the middle of the page won't work and it won't tell you why. You will also not…
-
Colin, click on the picture itself and it will pop out in almost full screen.

@John Funk, I'm guessing from what I've been reading that I need to enable work logs to get this for a given issue, is that correct? I have a hard enough time with my coworkers getting them to even transition a task to In Progress when they start. Most items go from To Do to Done. Can you elaborate on your suggestion some…

Let me know if you can access this Confluence page I created to give you a guide. More than one sprint in a project
-
@Fabian Limthanks for the quick reply. I was thinking you were using that field in some sort of automation operation to force a new issue into the correct project and workflow. I kind of misread what you meant by workstream.
-
I like Fabian's approach as well. @Fabian Lim, can you elaborate more on using the custom field to select the board? I've used Components for this same purpose but your approach sounds like it solves a problem I have where people inadvertently create tasks in the wrong project and/or board.
-
So I'll chime in here on this subject since I do this very thing in my organization. I believe the best way to do this would be a Scrum of scrums board or even a project. Then modify the filter to show what you want to see. For example, I would use a filter for the engineering project board that uses parentEpic in (epic-1,…

Thanks for the reply John, Somewhere as a field that I can use mainly for the advanced roadmap planning tool. That said I don't see it in an issue view. I am using Cloud Premium.
-
Yes, the native Jira Copy and Move controls were what you need. If you can afford it Deep Clone is great for clone project structure where you need to repeat the same tasks again. It is the first add-on I tried and found useful enough to keep it.
-
I see the value in Confluence and have recently gotten buy-in from team members but I still find it to be a bit "clunky" to use. If you are not up to date in how to use the editing features of this tool it is a struggle to get the information into it. Copying some formatted text and pasting leaves you with a mess to clean…

Please read through this article. Configure Estimation and Tracking

Without knowing all the details of your system configuration, I suggest you read through this article first. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/configure-estimation-and-tracking/

@Walter Buggenhoutcan you resend the link to the documentation. It seems to be broken.
-
@Dave Rosenlund _Trundl_yes, I forgot to mention using issue links. I've been buried in child issues of Epics for a while now so that totally slipped my mind.
-
No. Jira won't let you do this for good reason. Can you explain why you want to link the same story to two different Epics? If you still needed to do this you could clone the issue and associate them in turn to the two Epics. Of course, this would get very silly very quickly the more times you do this.
-
@Ann Ortegabe advised that adding a second user picker field to an issue doesn't automatically notify the other people you choose. You would have to add them to the watcher list manually or use automation rules to do that so they get notified. I use this as a custom field that we call Internal Support to add a person of…
-
@Elissa Fontaine, I'm always add-on resistant but I've found the Deep Clone add-on to be one of the good ones. It allows you to clone an Epic and its children and edit things during the clone such as setting the Status back to your preferred starting point for instance. You can try it out on a free trial. I do not work for…

Well, that was something I didn't expect. I thought all the permissions I had were transferred to the sandbox. Not so. Your suggestion was correct, I needed to fix my permissions. Thank you for being persistent with me. 😉
-
@Mohamed AdelI'm the org & site admin. I can create plans in my regular jira instance, just not in the sandbox. I suspect that Atlassian doesn't make it available in the sandbox but I can't find that stated anywhere.
-
No, just a link to a documentation page. Here is the screenshot. I've tried logging out of my instance and logging back in but it still doesn't work on any project in the sandbox.
-
I'm guessing you picked Issue Checklist for Jira. Free by HeroCodersIt appears they allow you to save a template to reuse but I would think you could just clone the issue with the appropriate checklist to reuse.
-
If I am not mistaken you should already have the standard Confluence tool since you mentioned the project pages link. You certainly can plan and discuss items within Confluence and then create action items that are tasks in Jira directly from those documents. You can also connect Jira to Teams so that you can have the task…
-
Use the basic issue search and select the current user and unassigned options to see if the story shows up. If you still can't find the specific issue you are looking for, then it likely isn't assigned to you. Perhaps it got reassigned or created in a different project.
-
If your company has a premium subscription to the cloud version it's built-in. As a single user, you can try out the sandbox http://go.atlassian.com/about-cloud-dev-instance
-
@Kristen RothI did stumble onto an add-on for Teams that allows for people to participate in the standup if they can't be there for the live version. Agile Polly.
-
Thanks for confirming @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- Rats. I wanted to use it to hide the Epic and all of its child issues from the backlog if the Epic went On Hold in my workflow. I suppose I can make a custom issue field that I can set to do the same thing.
-
@Nic Brough -Adaptavist-I think he means having the Epic link show up on the issue lines in the backlog:
-
That would depend on how the system is using that field. If this is a very simple workflow, usually a green Status lozenge (Done, Closed, Received, etc.) would indicate a resolution by putting a checkmark next to the Status and showing the resolution next to that like this: Depending on how it is setup in your system you…
-
@Larry Poolemy first guess is you don't have permission to create an issue in that particular project. If you could reply with what Atlassian product you are working with (Server or Cloud), and the type of project, and if it's Next Gen or not then people can narrow down the problem and give you guidance on correcting it.…
