JQL created date filter returning random results

Hi all,

I currently have a JQL filter which is meant to only return items that have been created within the last 4 weeks.

project = OPS AND component = "System" AND "Is changed raised by Business[Radio Buttons]" = Yes AND "RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19325, 19337) OR "RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19326, 19346) OR "RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19326, 19340) AND Created >= -4w order by created DESC

The filter is narrowing it down to 32 items however rather than only showing items with a creation date in the last 4 weeks it is showing items with creation dates spanning several years.

You need some additional parenthesis. Try:

project = OPS AND component = "System" AND "Is changed raised by Business[Radio Buttons]" = Yes AND ("RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19325, 19337) OR "RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19326, 19346) OR "RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19326, 19340)) AND Created >= -4w order by created DESC

You need to put your OR statements in one big parenthesis, or the JQL logic does not work as you intend. You need to group them. In a nutshell, the following is currently happening:

project = OPS AND component = "System" AND "Is changed raised by Business[Radio Buttons]" = Yes AND "RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19325, 19337)

OR

"RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19326, 19346)

OR

"RTB Business Area (L4 & L5)[Select List (cascading)]" in cascadeOption(19326, 19340) AND Created >= -4w order by created DESC

That might explain the weird returned results.
