Issue Type field not importing correctly

Question

I am trying to import a CSV into a next gen project. The CSV includes the Issue Type field - the import appears to run with no errors, but all issues are imported as Stories, though they are all classified as defects. I have even tried using the ID of the issue type instead of the name but that has not helped. What am I missing?

Indeed, The CSV import to Next-gen projects doesn't respect the mapping of the Issue type field. We have a bug reported to fix this behavior:

CSV imports do not map Issue types for Next-gen

Feel free to vote and watch the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

As a workaround, you can import your issues to a Classic project and move them to your Next-gen project.
