Set a field value based on other selected value from a different field

Hi guys, I'm trying to set up a service desk for my company using the Jira service desk system.

one of the requests is onboarding new employees.
I want to set a drop list field for a department and in another field, I will have a list of the software each employee needs to have by using multiple checkboxes. my question is, is it possible to mark the relevant checkboxes based on which department has been chosen in the department field?

Hi Daniel,

In Jira there is not a native option to conditionally set a field based on an input, however there are add-ons that can do the trick using post functions, so that the values are selected on submission.  I recommend checking out the marketplace to see if there are any additional apps that would work for you but three that I am aware of that can do a conditional set value post function would be:

1. JSU - Suite Utilities for Jira, that has an "update field" post function detailed here, and can be used in combination with the tools precondition feature to set the values based on the conditional field input as the transition is executed.
2. ScriptRunner for Jira which can configuring a customizable scripted workflow post function the details on the options for the Jira Cloud version of the app can be found HERE.
3. Jira Misc Workflow Extensions which has a Set Field Value post function with a Conditional Execution option.
