How do I automatically add options to a Custom Field Select List via a REST API ?

I have some Custom Fields, defined with Select Lists, that I would like to automatically update with data from an External Source

I cant find a way to do this via REST API

Has anyone managed to do this ?

Or is there another way ?

there are no POST methods to update custom field options via REST.

but you could build your own
