New JIRA Cloud Design Markup Support

Question

Was markup dropped altogether (and replaced by WYSIWYG?) in the new JIRA (cloud) design?

I cannot add tables or {code:<LANG>} blocks to my comments/descriptions - They are added as plain text.

In the + I also get only one option and that is to add horizontal rule

Not being able to create tables in the new Jira interface is driving me insane! Can we get this resolved ASAP?!

If you use the old table syntax (||column||) in the Create Issue modal, the table will render properly. However, if you create the bones of the ticket with minimal description (i.e. not including the table) and then attempt to add the table elements in the issue view, the old syntax doesn't work.

Markdown is indeed dropped, in favor of markup.

HOWEVER, when I try to create a table, using the exact example shown - I get a plain text again.
