Search could be better!

Norbert Haberl

Hey guys,

awesome product but a major functionality feels really really neglected - searching
Try to search for a user where I only know the lastname ?! Or do we have to know all the filed names by heart ? For example I look for tags more (which is called labelText in your case which is far from standard) than for full content.

Some search examples should be fine also... what is the handle ??

Ok, search could be better - really!

Thank you for doing your best!

Hi Norbert,

This page describes the searchg syntax for Confluence: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Confluence+Search+Syntax

You can certainly do a search for labels like this.

To do a focussed search on a user by name, either first name or surname, the People Directory is your best option I think.

Charles

Norbert,

there's an on-going moan about search, see here:

https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/158080/search-returns-wrong-results

There's also a Jira in for the recent changes to the search involving labels. I can't find that conversation in Answers at the moment, but it's here somewhere.

Cheers.

So "Search could be better!" seems to apply to Anwers as well....

Mark,

Very good, but I normally save my questions as favourites, so it's my fault I can't find the conversation.

Welcome!
