Completed issues showing in "Only Open" filter

I am trying to filter out completed items, but the "Status" filter is not working. See screenshot below.

Just noticed that this filter has nothing to do with the linked issue's status in JIRA. There is a "completed" status particular to portfolio that can be set with the following dropdown:
