If we need both Jira Software and Jira Core?

We are using JIRA OnDemand. An orange banner at the top of a page announcing: "Your site will be updated to JIRA Software in the coming days."

Our software team interested in JIRA Software (10 users), our business team interested in JIRA Core (another 10 users). Both software and business teams would like to interact with each other inside Jira. What kind of licences do we need to buy?

Hi Roman!

Well, it depends. If your business teams want JIRA Core features, which are simple task and project management tools, there's no need to give those users access to JIRA Software features, which includes DVCS integrations and Agile tools.

Therefore, I recommend buying a JIRA Core license for all business users and a JIRA Software license for your software team. Since the users granted access to JIRA Software will still be able to access projects and issues created by the team using JIRA Core and vice-versa, the communication between teams is guaranteed.

Note that, users that are only granted access to JIRA Core will be able to see JIRA Software projects, however, with limited features (for example, they won't be able to view an Agile Board). The "Project Navigation" view will consist of mostly the same sections for all projects across the two types.
