Jira Cloud: How to Hide the “Recent work” Section in User Hover Cards?

Hi Atlassian Community,

I’m looking for guidance on customizing user profile hover cards in Jira Cloud.

When we hover over a user's name in Jira, a profile pop-up appears showing details such as their name, email address, and a Recent work section displaying recently updated or viewed issues.

Our requirement is to hide only the Recent work section while keeping the rest of the user profile information visible, ideally for all users across our organization.

I’d appreciate your suggestions on the following:

* Is there any native Jira Cloud configuration to hide this section?
* Can this be achieved using Atlassian Forge or any supported extension point?
* Would a custom Chrome extension using CSS be a feasible workaround for organization-wide deployment?
* Is there an existing Atlassian feature request or recommended approach for this requirement?

I understand that hiding this section visually is different from restricting access to the underlying issue data. We are specifically looking to customize the hover-card display.

Any recommendations or references to relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Akshad Katke, @Arkadiusz Wroblewski has it right. Recent work came with the refreshed profile cards in September, there's no admin toggle for it, and Forge doesn't offer a profile card extension point to hook into.

A force-installed CSS extension can work on managed browsers. Keep in mind it won't cover the mobile apps or unmanaged devices, and it'll break whenever Atlassian changes the card markup. The card also appears in Confluence and the other apps, so scope your selectors for those too.

I couldn't find a public suggestion for this yet. I'd raise one through Atlassian Support and post the key here so others can vote. Want to share the reason (privacy, client visibility)? That helps it get traction.

Atlassian added Recent work to its redesigned profile cards in September 2026. Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in setting or supported Forge extension point to hide it. A custom CSS browser extension may be an option, though it would need to be deployed and maintained across your organization, including updates when Atlassian changes the interface. For an organization-wide solution, you can submit a feature request.
