Get list of all archived issues in Jira Cloud ?

Hi, We have recently migrated to Cloud. And for a specific work, I need to get the list of all archived issues with their issue type and status from my instance. At least for a specific set of projects. I tried using scriptrunner, but haven't been successful.

Is there any way this can be obtained in Cloud ? This was something very easy to acquire in Datacenter but not here.

Jira Cloud has a dedicated REST API for that:

PUT /rest/api/3/issues/archive/export

It exports archived issues from selected projects to CSV, with the download link sent by email.

Requires Jira Premium/Enterprise and admin permissions.

Thank you for the comment. We do have the Jira Enterprise. So as an org admin, I can get the export to my email address. Also, is there any limitation to what the list can include ? I need the issue key, issue type and status

I know some of my colleagues rely on ScriptRunner to fetch this, but I'm person who leans towards native functionalities such as REST API as Arek mentioned 👆

Anyway, there's a feature request for having the ability to search for archived work items so it's more 'UI-friendly' than exporting things to CSV: JRACLOUD-83897: Ability to search archived issues in Jira ➕
Would be cool to simply have a filter and/or toggle just for this 🤔

100%. Scriptrunner you know is nice, fancy, and has nice colors. At the conference, I talked with them, and they want to delegate that to Automations from the Administrator panel to give more control to Project Admins.

But the problem with the script is that Automations and Native API are more Stable. Scriptrunner…. i forget how often i must rewrite scripts every time…

Is nice to have but a next thing to maintain.

Indeed. I'm not a fan of ScriptRunner in general, but it does a decent job sometimes. People got used to scripting everything in DC and they do try to do the same thing in cloud 🫠

While we're at it — it would be interesting to see if Rovo can fetch archived work items and create CSV out of it. 🤔 I've never tried it, but it would be a cool test.

I asked my agent to solve this problem in ScriptRunner Connect, you can access a template here. The template has Generic Event Listener which will give you a URL. When you hit it, you'll need to provide a password (configured in Parameters), and then you'll get to browse your archived issues. Read the workspace README for more info.

I have not tested it with a large data set, and it was one-shotted by my agent, so take it with a grain of salt. If this is not the output you expected, you can easily export it to Google Sheets/Drive, OneDrive as Excel file, or upload it to S3 as CSV or in any other format. The template serves as an example how to go about fetching the issues which is the difficult part. Best to use your own agent to iterate it forward.

It uses private/beta GraphQL endpoint to fetch the issue and because of that requires API key to work rather than using OAuth based authentication. Given the endpoint is in beta, it can break without a warning.

I tried using ScriptRunner and the script became more and more complex, even though it did work. But, I was able to achieve this using POSTMAN in like 2min, and the entire set up took a min ! Lol
