Limit lookupObjects results to a variable

Hi Everyone!

I am trying to create an automation for the following:

User creates a ticket requesting X amount of devices.

I want the automation to perform a lookup to Assets, and select the first X of this list - to link that exact amount to the issue.

Jira Automation does not allow you to set the Number of search results in LookupObjects to a smartValue (only set number).

And a branch does not keep an index of itself, so I cannot validate on which number in the list it is going.

I do not seem to be able to think of a way to achieve the same myself.
Has anyone found any way around this?

One workaround that usually works here: set the Number of search results in LookupObjects to a large fixed number, then add a counter variable inside your For each branch and increment it on each pass. Add an Advanced compare condition that only processes the item while the counter is still below X — that way you only pick up the first X objects without needing an index. A bit clunky, but it should get the job done. Hope that helps!
