Jira Data Center 11.3.3 – Roadmaps: one user cannot edit dates in a plan only from his own PC

Question

One user cannot edit Target start / Target end in an Advanced Roadmaps plan. The fields are greyed out and the cursor shows a red "not allowed" circle.

* The user is in group "PM", which has the "Advanced Roadmaps user" permission and Edit access to the plan (Plan access: Restricted, group PM).
* Other users in the same group can edit dates without problems.
* The user can edit the same dates directly in the issue view.
* When I log in with his account on my laptop, everything works and I can edit dates in the plan.
* On his computer it doesn't work in any browser (tried several browsers and incognito).
* Account: Jira Internal Directory, Jira Software access. No duplicate accounts. Removing and re-adding him to the group did not help.

So the account and permissions seem fine, and the problem looks tied to his device. Has anyone seen this? What else should I check?

Hola Kateryna,

Your cross-device test makes a persistent account-permission problem unlikely, although it doesn't yet distinguish the PC itself from its network path or server session. Since several browsers and incognito mode behave the same way, I'd first test on your working laptop using the same network/VPN connection as his PC, with the same account and the exact plan URL. If your laptop also stops working there, investigate that connection's proxy or routing; if it still works, the affected PC's environment becomes the stronger lead.

To build on the Console/Network suggestion, start recording before reloading the plan, rather than only when clicking the disabled field. In Chrome, open Developer Tools > Network, enable Preserve log and Disable cache, then reload. Compare the initial Fetch/XHR requests and JavaScript errors with the working laptop, looking for failed requests, login redirects, or responses containing an HTML error page instead of JSON. A disabled control may never send a request when clicked, so that the useful evidence may be available on the initial page load.

Could you share the affected PC's OS/browser versions and any errors encountered during that reload? If you capture HAR files, share them privately with support and remove sensitive information first.

Check if the user have book marked it and doing it from that link. If so please try to open it from the side navigator and try. Try to clear the browser cache and give a try.

Open the plan through Jira’s Plans menu on his PC and compare the full URL with yours, including the scenario. Also, have another known-working editor sign in on his PC to see whether the problem affects them too.

If it persists, compare the browser Console and Network logs while loading the plan on both machines. If Jira has multiple nodes, compare the X-ANODEID response header to check if the sessions reach different nodes.

Can he edit other fields in the plan, or is the whole plan read-only?
