Building a new Company Hub

Question

Are "Sections" used for different spaces that functional organizations would then build out (think spoke) back to the Company Hub page? So, HR, IT, Procurement, Product, etc can each work on their organizational pages that link back into the Company Hub?  So owners and authors can work asynchronously on their respective org/team pages.

Hub is mainly a landing page for the whole company (one-stop shop, if you'd like). In the hub, you could display dynamic content that could display different elements across different spaces.

I did write about this a while back (our v1.0 example) but I don't think sections existed back then 😅

Not quite. Sections are just layout blocks on the Hub page itself (backgrounds, and inside them Cards, Carousels, Spotlights), they aren't connected to spaces and don't delegate editing.

The hub-and-spoke model you describe is still the right one, it's just split differently: HR, IT, Procurement each own their regular Confluence space and work there asynchronously with their own permissions. The Hub is the curated front door on top: one section per function, with cards linking into those spaces' landing pages.
