Sprint creation restriction

I manage multiple projects and am assigned the 'jrs-owner' role. With this role, I am currently able to create sprints on all boards. Each project has one primary board whose name starts with 'JA - '  . I want to restrict sprint creation so that sprints can only be created on these 'JA - ' boards. Users should be restricted from creating sprints on any other boards within the same projects  . Could you please provide validation rules, workflow configurations, or any other solutions to achieve this requirement?

The limitation noted above is the key one: Manage Sprints is a project permission, not a board permission, so Jira does not provide a board-name validation or workflow rule that can block sprint creation on non-"JA - " boards. Board filters control which issues are visible; they don’t scope the sprint-management permission.

The native controls are therefore to remove Manage Sprints from the broad jrs-owner role and grant it only to a dedicated group/role, or to split the work into separate projects where sprint administration can be scoped independently. If the projects must remain shared, the practical governance option is to keep sprint creation with a small admin group and document which board is authoritative. I’d be wary of relying on automation to undo an incorrectly created sprint—it can’t reliably prevent the creation itself.

This can't be restricted on board level, permissions are on space level, boards are based on a filter and the filter has view and edit permission.

Manage sprint permission is space bound, and not related to boards in a space.
