While cloning the story epic is not getting added by default from last 2 weeks and while adding epic also it is not user friendly like before.
Hi @Swathi Rao
It is likely because Atlassian has been finalising the migration from the old Epic Link field to the new unified Parent field. This explains both issues you're seeing:
Now, Epics are treated as Parents. Currently, the native Jira Clone operation does not always carry over this new Parent relationship by default.
The Fix (Automation):You can bridge this gap with a simple Jira Automation rule:
Trigger: Workitem created
Condition:
Summary ~ CLONE
Next
Action: Edit Workitem - Set Parent field.
Value: {{triggerIssue.parent.key}}
{{triggerIssue.parent.key}}
If you are in a Scrum/Kanban board, dragging and dropping a Story onto an Epic in the Epic Panel (in the Backlog view) still works and is often the most user-friendly"way to link them without typing.
