Hello,
I'm facing an issue when creating a Test Execution from a Test Plan in Xray.
When clicking Create Test Execution from a Test Plan, Xray displays the following message:
"Test Execution contains required fields. Please use the Jira create issue dialog to create the new Test Execution."
Is there a way to identify exactly which field Xray considers "required" when displaying this message?
Are there any Xray-specific configurations, validators, or hidden field requirements that can trigger this behavior even when manual Test Execution creation works correctly?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Hello @Ait Benhida Fatimaezzahra
When you create a Test Execution directly from a Test Plan using the Xray button, Xray attempts an inline creation using a restricted subset of fields (like Summary, Issue Type, Project, and Test Plan link). If Jira's configuration expects any additional required field—or if certain workflow/field constraints are met—Xray aborts the quick creation and displays that error message

In the meantime, inspect the Create transition (the very first transition leading to the initial status). If there are Validators set up (e.g., Field Required Validator, Parent/Epic Link Validator, or Third-Party App Validators like JSU, JMWE, ScriptRunner), Jira's API will reject the lightweight creation, and Xray will flag it as a required field conflict.
