Enhancement Request: Direct Navigation from Task List to Specific Task

Question

Current:

In SideBar > Tasks > the Page or Doc link opens the page, but not the specific task/action. To find the task, the user must copy the task text (or part of it) and search for it manually on the page.

Expected:
The link should navigate directly to the referenced task/action.

Proposed solution:
Append the task block ID to the URL, for example:

#block-7bf18f01-a6d1-4693-8926-99c4b3cc2882

This would take users directly to the task instead of the top of the page, improving usability and reducing navigation time.

This would be a really useful usability improvement. When a task is surfaced in the task list, users already have a clear indication of what they need to work on, so having the link open the exact task instead of the top of the page adds an unnecessary extra step.

Using the task block ID as an anchor seems like a straightforward solution. It would make navigation much faster, especially on longer pages or docs with multiple tasks.

Definitely feels like a small change that could have a big impact on the day-to-day experience.

What you said makes sense. Either that, or to have "Page or Doc" link as-is and then a separate link next to the actual task description...

It's actually a question for the design team, so I would leave it up to them 😄

Anyway, what you/your Confluence admin could do is reach out to Atlassian Support and discuss this with them. Their team can create a new feature request/suggestion on JAC, which you can then track and leave a vote on 🎟️
