Jira Cloud “Sync with thread” option missing in Slack

Hi Atlassian Community,

Until a few days ago, when we pasted a Jira ticket link into a Slack thread, we could select “Sync with thread”. Today, that option is gone and we only see “Summarise.”

We rely on this feature so business users can reply directly in Slack without needing to use Jira, while the full conversation and context are still kept in the Jira ticket.

I’ll attach two screenshots:
- One from a few days ago showing “Sync with thread”
- One from today showing “Summarise” but no sync option

Has this feature been changed or moved? Is there another way to manually trigger the Slack thread sync for an existing Jira ticket?

The official Jira Cloud for Slack app has been inconsistent about surfacing that 'sync with thread' option lately, so you're not missing a setting, it's a real gap right now. If two-way comment sync (Slack reply -> Jira comment, and back) is the actual goal rather than just notifications, it's worth knowing there are a few Marketplace apps built specifically for that, since the native feature is pretty limited even when it works. Disclosure: I work on Threadmaker (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/2757045414/threadmaker-for-jira-and-slack), which does this - Slack thread replies post as Jira comments and Jira comments post back into the thread, including on JSM tickets where it labels internal notes vs customer replies. Happy to walk through how the thread mapping works if that'd help you compare against what you had before.

Thanks for your suggestion.

However, we have tested with other users/channels and even with other tickets, but they all ended up with the same result. We don't see the sync with thread option anymore, and it is now replaced with "summarise".

I'll raise it to the Atlassian support. Thanks for your help!
