Scan QR Code to Automatically Update an Asset Field

The way that we have it now, we can scan the QR code of a device using a phone which brings us to the record in Jira Assets. From that screen we can use a dropdown to manually update the location field for the device. We want to avoid having to manually update the field using a dropdown and instead scan a QR code for the location to update the field.

For example, is the following use case possible in Jira Assets (or a Jira Marketplace app)?

User needs to do a manual inventory of a storage room. The user has a dedicated hardware scanner (not a phone) and scans the QR code for a device. The user sees that Jira Assets (or Jira Marketplace app) says that the printer is located on Shelf A even though it's actually on Shelf B. The user then scans a QR code for Shelf B to update the device's location data.

The Jira Cloud app will allow you to do this! When filling an asset field on a form on the app, the QR code can be used to scan the asset, and it will automatically populate the field. 

You would probably need to create a form called, Update Asset Location, where the one field is the scanned asset to be updated, and the other field is the asset location to be updated. After submission, automation can update the actual asset.
