Fix Version not available for Story Work Type

Question

I have a team managed software project. I created a release and fix version is available on Task, Bug, and Epic work types, but it's not available on Stories. I've read that I can delete the release and re-add, but that didn't fix the issue. Any ideas on how to get Fix Version in a story work type?

Thanks for the comment @Thanasis Nikolaou  - Fix versions in not available to select in the Story work type. I also don't have Releases under Features to be able to toggle it, I added a screenshot in a reply to @Martin Runge   - I'm at a loss on what to do.

Deleting and re-adding the release won't do anything here — releases are project-wide, but in a team-managed project the Fix versions field is placed per work type, and yours is missing from Story's layout. Two things to try, in order:

* Go to Project settings → Work types (older sites say Issue types), pick Story, and look in the fields panel on the right — search for Fix versions and drag it onto the layout, then save.
* If it's not offered there at all, toggle the feature: Project settings → Features, switch Releases off, refresh the page, switch it back on. This is the workaround from JRACLOUD-93444, a team-managed bug where Fix versions stopped being available on some work types (marked fixed in 2025, but the toggle still sorts out projects that got into the bad state earlier).
* Once it's on the layout, remember it can hide under Show more at the bottom of the details panel on the work item itself.

The bug specifically hit projects with custom or recreated work types — if your Story type was ever deleted and recreated, that's almost certainly why it's the odd one out. The off/refresh/on dance has fixed this on every thread I've seen it in, including this one.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply. Every work type has Fix Version besides Story. I don't see Releases in Features under Space setting.

I did try deleting this release and re-creating it but no luck.
