How to automatically transition issue status when all sub-tasks are completed?

Question

We have a parent issue that should automatically move to "In Review" when all its sub-tasks are marked "Done". I've tried setting up a Jira Automation rule but it doesn't work or maybe I configured incorrectly

Has anyone managed to get this working reliably?

Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community :)

You can try out the following automation rule, I have tested on my site and it works :)

* Trigger: Select Workitem transitioned. Set the To status to Done (or your equivalent final status).

* Condition: Add an workitem fields condition. Set the Field to WorkitemType and the Condition to equals, then select Sub-task. This ensures the rule only runs when a subtask is transitioned.

* Branching: Add a Branch rule / related issues. Select Parent as the type of related issue, so here we make sure rest of the items are run for Parent workitem now.

* Condition (within the branch): Add a Related workitem condition.* Set Related issues to Subtasks.
* Set Condition to All match specified JQL.
* In the Matching JQL field, enter: status = "Done"

* Action (within the branch): Add a Transition workitem action. Set the Destination status to "In Review"

* Save the flow

Adding a screenshot for the same. Please note, for step 5, I have added the destination status as Done as well for my Parent workitem, so please dont get confused.

There is a template rule you may use as a starting point for your scenario.  From the rules list, please select Templates, and then the rule named:

When all sub-tasks are done → move parent to done

You may change the Status values to meet your needs.

If that does not work, please post an image of your complete rule and the audit log details showing the rule execution.  Those will provide context for the community to offer better suggestions.  Thank you!
