It is no longer possible to clone tickets (all projects and all tickets types).

Sylvain CAMPOS

Today, ticket cloning no longer works. A pop-up appears with the following message, but the cloned tickets are not created.

"Once the cloning is complete, the cloned ticket will be linked to ****-3477, and you will see another pop-up window like this one."

Hi @Sylvain CAMPOS

After this message, you should have a new one right after that tell you that the ticket has been created no ?

In fact, the expected new tickets are not being created.

Hello @Sylvain CAMPOS

How are you determining that the new ticket is not being created?

Have you refreshed the screen lf the current ticket to see if the Links section is updated?

Have you executed a search on the project, ordering the results by CREATED DESC to see if a new ticket has been added to the list?

Hi @Sylvain CAMPOS

Welcome to the community!

Seems the actual issue creation process failed in the background or is hanging. This could be because of:

Jira might attempt to create a new issue, but if required data is missing and the UI doesn't display validation errors during cloning, the process fails silently. Check your Field Configuration Schemes for any "Required" fields that might be empty on the tickets you're cloning.
Are there any Jira Automation errors in your project that could be the reason for this?
Is the 'Cloners' work item link type still available, and has it not been renamed?
Workflow Validator Restrictions may mandate a particular field to conform to a regex pattern or require the user to have specific permissions. Since cloning duplicates the state of the previous ticket, it could trigger a validator added later in the "Create" step. Check the "Create" transition in your workflow for any active Validators.

So you can create tickets in the project, but when you clone it, it's not being created ? Did you double check by searching in the project ?

Can you confirm that the Work Item Link Type Cloners exist too ?

Sylvain CAMPOS

The problem was resolved after intervention from Atlassian support of JIRA cloud. Thank you for your help.

Martin Runge

Hi Sylvian, did they share the root cause? I am asking for others with the same issue, who might find that question.

Sylvain CAMPOS

Unfortunately not yet, I know it went through a ticket to Atlassian, but nothing more for the moment.
