Not receiving project email notifications Team-managed

I created a new team-managed project and looking to get notifications from any updates on tasks. Both myself and another team-member are here and neither of us are getting any of the notifications. We receive notifications from other projects (Company-managed projects with a notification Scheme enabled) but none from this new one.

I also checked our mail server and there are no emails being blocked.

I've tried this on two new projects both to no resolve

Team-managed Software project
Team-managed Business project

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Have you checked your spam/junk mail folders?

Have you reviewed the Notifications settings for those Team Managed projects?

Space settings > Notifications > Settings

By default the notifications will go to Reporter, All Watchers, and Assignee. Do you or your colleague fit into any of those categories for the modified issues?

Are the modifications such that they align to the events for which notifications are sent?

Have you checked individual Notifications Settings (under the gear icon near your avatar in the upper right corner) to see if you have disabled options that would result in you not getting the notifications?

Have you checked the Space Email Audit page to see if the emails are not able to get delivered?

Interesting -- when I went in to compare notifications for my Team Manged Project versus my Company Managed project, this sentence at the top of the page got my attention:

Jira can send people or roles an email when events happen on a work item - for example, when someone comments. Settings on this page will be overridden by a user’s personal notification preferences.

When I followed that link i was surprised at how customized the personal settings can be. I was also "concerned" when I read the information pop-out that says (paraphrasing) that the default settings apply when you are the reporter, assignee, or are watching the issue.

It sounds like you can make a change at the Space Level to bring you closer to the company managed version we all know and love ;-) .

Hope this helps -- but there is so much going on here, I feel certain your email "filter" is buried in here somewhere.

is anyone else recieving email from the Team Managed Projects? It is great that the company managed projects work -- that helps narrow the focus.

Not meaning to send you on a fishing trip -- but I do a lot with the REST APIs and have a publically available REST Browser. (REST BROWSER Link)

I went to the endpoint lookup tab to search for anything email related. You may find something useful runing some of these in your browser.

This was intresting... looking at the notification scheme for each project

1 more hidden gem -- if you get the notification scheme Id and run the REST Endpoint in a browser, be sure to use the expand=notificationSchemeEvents. It may tell you the same thing you are seeing on your admin screen -- but this will expose the "Ids" of the objects involved and you may find your achilles heal that way.

Team-managed projects on Cloud have a thinner notification surface than company-managed ones, and silent delivery failures are notoriously hard to audit. David's pointer to the REST API for notification logs is the right diagnostic step.

To sidestep the native plumbing, our app Notification Assistant for Jira sends its own emails on event or JQL triggers. It behaves the same across team-managed and company-managed projects.
