I can confirm, it definitely works this way, unfortunately.

However, as mentioned by @Tomislav Tobijas and as an option, which is not really a case for you, there's a solution.

I've been playing around with the app we're working on, and it can do the right thing with the labels. Pretty customizable (display results as a table or list, exclude labels, restrict search to a space, clickable names, etc.).

Here's a ready-to-use macro, which I developed, one can install from our Library and use it right away.

Anyway, I hope this may be helpful in some other cases 😊

Natively, there isn't a way to get something like (from what I know):

LabelNumber of content where used #label_114 #label_290

Guessing you could build something by using official REST API. Potentially even Forge app and an appropriate macro, which would then display something like that. 🤔

Now, I haven't played with Atlassian Analytics 📊, which comes with Enterprise plans. Potentially, you could build a report there and embed it in a Confluence page, but that would need some experimenting 👀
