I want the issue number to be autogenerated when I create an issue in JIRA. I couldn't find a feature or an option

Hi Guys,

I'm testing JIRA for defect management option and I was trying to find an ISSUE NUMBER or similar field which will auto generate a defect/issue number as the users create new issues or defects.

I couldn't find this field or custom create this field from JIRA ISSUES module.

Any suggestions or advise pls?

The number is already auto generated when you create an issue for each project. There should nothing you need to do.

I'm not sure how you could miss it! Create issue -> fill in info -> land on a page which has the issue key on-screen next to the title and in the url...
