Clarification on Jira comment replies / parent-child relationship in REST API

Hi,

We are integrating Jira issue comments into our application using the Jira Cloud REST API (v3). While reviewing the API responses, we noticed that comments which appear as “replies” in the Jira UI are returned as independent comments, without any explicit parent–child relationship.
Is there any official or recommended way to identify or link reply-style comments to a parent comment via the API?

Nope.

Changes to the API: In this release, we are not implementing any API changes related to the threaded comments feature. We will issue an RFC requesting feedback when we intend to extend the support.
