Is there a way to add serial numbers to an asset where the field will accept both Numbers and Letters ?

No, simply use the text field. There aren't combinations of fields.

as @Nikola Perisic pointed out there is no dedicated attribute of this type.What you could do is to add a regex validation to the attribute. Please see the documentation for more info.
Ok so the text field will allow both Letters and Numbers is that correct ?
If not how do we get serial numbers into the platform that have both numbers and letters?
